Do Vitamin Supplements Help?

Many complementary cancer treatment approaches involve the use of vitamin supplements to remedy potential vitamin deficiencies, aid in detoxification or boost immunity.  As discussed in my upcoming book, however, virtually all of the nutrients we need — including several with potential anti-carcinogenic effects —  are available from natural food or other sources (e.g., limited direct sunlight for vitamin D absorption).  A recent article highlights studies addressing the potential limitations — and perhaps harm — of vitamin supplements.  Check it out at http://www.forbes.com/sites/stevensalzberg/2013/10/07/the-top-five-vitamins-you-should-not-take/.  As always, speak with your doctor before using any drugs, diets or treatmentsSome may not only not help you, but may be contraindicated because of other drugs you are taking or may otherwise interfere with your treatment and recovery.
