Antibody Drug Offers Hope in Cancer Treatment

An antibody drug in development has been shown in mice studies to attack and kill virtually every type of cancer.  The drug blocks the production of a protein, CD47, produced in large amounts in cancer cells.  Blocking the production of this protein allows the immune system to more effectively fight and destroy cancer cells.  Researchers are hopeful that human clinical trials can proceed next year.  An exciting development that hopefully will bring us further along on the road to a cancer cure!  Here is a link to an article discussing these recent developments.  http://www.newsmaxhealth.com/Health-News/Cancer-Drug-Kills-Every-Kind-of-Tumor-Study/2013/03/28/id/496736/
